An important architectural work, characteristic of Italian rationalism; with its 127 meters in height, distributed over 31 floors (another 2 floors are underground), it is one of the most imposing reinforced concrete buildings in the world.
The building was constructed between 1956 and 1960 based on a design by Gio Ponti, Giuseppe Valtolina, Pier Luigi Nervi, Antonio Fornaroli, Alberto Rosselli, Giuseppe Rinardi, and Egidio Dell'Orto; Ponti also directed all construction phases. The structural aspect was managed by Giuseppe Valtolina, in collaboration with consultants Pier Luigi Nervi, Arturo Danusso, Piero Locatelli, and Guglielmo Meardi.
The Pirelli Skyscraper is one of the symbols of contemporary Milan and was the tallest building in the city for almost 50 years.
